Safety & Security Window Films
Safety and Security Window Films are designed to strengthen glass and reduce the risk of injury or damage in the event of breakage. When applied to glazing, the film helps hold shattered glass together, preventing dangerous fragments from scattering and providing added protection for people and property.
Ideal for both commercial and residential applications, safety window films offer a discreet and cost-effective way to enhance security without changing the appearance of your windows.
Safety Window Films
Professionally installed safety window film reinforces existing glass, helping to contain shards if impact or breakage occurs. This significantly reduces the risk of injury while also minimising damage to surrounding areas.
Our safety films are:
- Scratch-resistant and durable
- Optically clear, preserving natural light and visibility
- Virtually invisible once installed
Safety window films provide an effective alternative to security bars or grills, allowing you to protect your premises while maintaining a clean, professional appearance. They are one of the most affordable and efficient ways to improve glass safety.
Different Levels of Protection
Safety and security films are available in varying thicknesses, with each level offering increased resistance to impact and forced entry. Generally, the thicker the film, the greater the protection provided.
Two commonly used specifications include:
PS4 / 100-micron clear safety film – Often used as a minimum safety specification, suitable for many residential and workplace applications.
PS7 / 175-micron clear safety & security film – Designed to provide enhanced protection and commonly used to help meet current government guidelines for blast mitigation.
Selecting the correct film requires specialist knowledge. Our technical team will help assess your requirements, arrange site visits where necessary, and recommend the most suitable solution for your property.
Attachment Systems
For higher-risk environments, safety and security films can be combined with attachment systems. These systems help anchor the filmed glass to the window frame, reducing the likelihood of the entire pane being forced out during events such as attempted break-ins, extreme weather or impact.
One commonly used attachment method involves structural silicone applied over both the film and frame, creating a strong bond that helps retain broken glass within the opening.
Internal testing shows that combining safety film with an attachment system can approximately double the time it takes for an intruder to gain entry compared to film alone — making it a highly effective deterrent against smash-and-grab attacks and forced entry.
